DHAKA: Visiting Bangladesh lost five top order wickets scoring 225-run till the tea of the first day’s play of the second test against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Friday (January 20).

Soumya Sarkar and Shakib Al Hasan scored 86 and 59 runs respectively on way to reconstruct the Bangladesh innings after losing two early innings.

At one stage, the visitors were 165 for the loss of two wickets. From that position, the wickets of Soumya, Shakib and Sabbir dent the progress of Bangladesh.

Earlier in the day, Kiwi captain Kane Williamson won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first.

Bangladesh are missing the services of regular captain Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes due to their injuries that they picked up while playing the first test.

New Zealand are leading the two-match series by 1-0.
