DHAKA: Cricketer Arafat Sunny has been denied bail and sent to jail in an ICT case on Tuesday (January 24).
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) placed the order in response to a plea by investigation officer sub-inspector M Yeahia to send the cricketer to jail than placing remand.
Sunny was produced before the court by Mohammadpur Thana police after a-day remand.
Sunny’s lawyer M Jewel Rana appealed for his bail, but plaintiff Nasrin’s lawyer Nasim Jahan Rubi opposed it.
Later, the court sent Arafat Sunny to jail as ICT case has no options of bailing.
Earlier on January 5, a woman, who claimed herself as the cricketer’s wife, filed the case against Sunny under the ICT Act.
Metropolitan magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the one day remand order.
Nasrin Sultana filed another case of dowry on Monday (January 23).
