Siddikur places 2nd in Bashundhara Bangladesh Open Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan handed over awards

DHAKA: Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman finished as runners-up in the Bashundhara Bangladesh Open 2017 at Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) in Dhaka Saturday (February 4).

The 31-year-old double Asian Tour winner came back strongly with his performance from 29th place after first round of the third edition of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Jazz Janewattananond, a 21-year old Thai golfer, clinched his first Asian Tour title by playing 17 shots below par after the final round.

Housing and Public Works minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was present as chief guest at the award giving program of the event in the afternoon.

Besides, chairman of Bashundhara Group, country’s largest business conglomerate, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan was present here as the special guest.

Minister Mosharraf Hossain thanked Bashundhara Group for organizing such a world class golf tournament in Bangladesh.

He further said the tournament was not only promoting Golf in Bangladesh, but also the tourism industry.

Bashundhara Group is the title sponsor of the international professional golf event involving prizes totaling $300,000 event and a unique trophy designed in the form of Bangladesh’s national animal, the Royal Bengal Tiger.
