DHAKA: Australia cricket team arrived in Dhaka to play the much-awaited two-match test series against Bangladesh cricket team Friday night (August 18).
The flight SQ-446 carrying the 32-member Australia team landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:45pm amid enhanced security measures.
Much enthusiasm was marked among the reporters, airport officials and even the on-duty law enforcers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, on occasion of the Aussies’ tour here after long 11 years.
Higher officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) including its security chief Major Hossain Imam welcomed the Aussies at the airport.
Besides, two members of Australia team who reached Dhaka earlier on August 15 present there.
Law enforcement agencies ensured tougher security as members of police, RAB (Rapid Action Battalion), APBn (Armed Police Battalion), SRT (Special Response Team) of police were deployed from Airport to its surrounding areas.
Visiting Australia team will play a warm-up match on August 22-23.
On August 27, the first test will kick-off at Mirpur stadium.
The second and last test will be played at Chittagong on September 4-8.
Steve Smith will lead the Australia team where David Warner will be the Vice captain.
Among the key players, Mitchell Starc and Steve O’Keefe will miss the tour.
