MIRPUR: Tiger heavy-hitter Tamim Iqbal sealed a fifty as Bangladesh are batting on the third day of second innings of the first test against visiting Australia.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and night-watchman Taijul Islam resumed batting on side of the Tigers in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium Tuesday (August 29).
Till filing this report, Bangladesh scored 90 runs by 3 wickets in 38 overs.
Tamim Iqbal secured a half-century in 112 balls, which is 24th in his career, parallel to an earlier record of former Tiger skipper Habibul Basahar.
Earlier, Bangladesh took an 88-run lead at stumps on day-2 of the opening test lead against Australia.
Bangladesh scored 45 for one wicket in 22 overs in their second innings.
However, the visiting Australia bowled out at 217 in response to Tigers’ 260 from first innings.
