CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh faced a defeat in the second innings in the second Test against Australia in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday (Sep 7).
Steve Smith-led Australian side beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets to level the two-Test series 1-1 after the visiting team were handed a target of 86 runs and they started the chase in an aggressive manner.
Though, Australia lost three wickets after David Warner, Steve Smith and Matt Renshaw were sent back in the hut, Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell made sure that they don’t lose further wickets. Handscomb remained unbeaten on 16 while Maxwell finished off the proceedings in style after smashing a maximum over long on.
Bangladesh were all out for 157, setting Australia 86 to win the second and final test and level the series.
Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored for the hosts with 31 runs. Off-spinner Nathan Lyon claimed six wickets to return impressive match figures of 13-154.
Bangladesh won the first test in Dhaka by 20 runs.
