DHAKA: Barcelona’s official airline will no longer be Qatar Airways, according to ESPN.
Apparently, there was a "firm agreement" to continue and contracts had been drawn up last March that would have kept Qatar Airways as sponsor for 12.5 million a year for four years.
But those contracts were never signed and both sides backed off as Japanese electronic company Rakuten became the new shirt sponsor, outbidding Qatar Airways for the honor.
Neymar's signing for Paris Saint-Germain, a club funded by Qatar, was not well-received by the Barça board. Josep Maria Bartomeu is said to oppose any further connection with that country. Previously, Turkish Airlines was the club's airline partner.
It is not sure whether Turkish Airlines returns to the club or who is going to be the new sponsor.
