DHAKA: The host South Africa are chasing Bangladesh-set 279-run target in their first One Day International (ODI) at Kimberley.
Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a century against South Africa in any format. He also led the team to the highest total against Proteus.
Opener Liton Das took 21 runs off 29 balls before going to pavilion.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in the first of the three ODIs at Kimberley.
Opener Tamim Iqbal, fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman were ruled out of the match. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Mohammad Saifuddin, a seam-bowling all-rounder, debuted in ODIs.
Besides, South Africa handed an ODI cap to fast bowler Dane Paterson.
AB de Villiers is back in action in internationals after a long four months. Faf du Plessis is playing the first ODI series as full-time ODI captain of South Africa.
