FROM DIGITAL WORLD, BICC: A ministerial conference has been arranged on the second day of the 4-day ‘Digital World’ Information Technology exposition at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre in city’s Agargaon area on Tuesday.

Besides the host Bangladesh, some cabinet members from six Asian countries, including Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Vietnam and Cambodia have taken part in the conference.

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this international IT exposition with the slogan of ‘Future is Here’.

The exposition, jointly organized by Information Communication division and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), is drawing the attention of a large group of IT buffs from home and abroad.

However, sessions on e-governance, business and training workshops are scheduled to be held on the second day of the festival.

The daylong conference titled ‘Titanium Conference For Mobile Application Development’ is also underway at the fairground.

As of the inaugural day, the IT loving people are seen thronged exposition that has created an opportunity for the young generation to meet the eminent persons, including International Telecommunication Union secretary general Houlin Zhao, Tipsy & Tumbler founder Boydlee Pollentine, CloudCamp founder Dave Nielsen and TiE Silicon Valley president Venk Shukla, among others, at the fairground.

A total of 85 IT experts from 25 countries are attending the festival, which is being considered as one of the largest IT fairs in South Asia region.

Moreover, the local IT people have got the opportunity to meet Google south Asia emerging markets head of sales Ben King, Google head of agency development Bickey Russell, marketing specialist Katie Sanders, Google Speech software engineer Ravi Rajakumar, Google partner development manager Akshay Sonthalia, Google south Asia emerging market industry analyst Fazal Ashfaq and Google Translate software engineer Arne Mauser.

Among others, Facebook India director and also public policy head Ankhi Das, Accenture India chairman and GU managing director Avinash Vashistha, Augmedix cofounder and CEO Ian Shakil, NTF III Bangladesh project manager Martin Labbe and Bikroy.com chief Martin Malmstrom also attended the fair.

The organizers have set to arrange 20 seminars and 11 conferences. Special sessions will also be organized during the festival.

The exposition will remain open for all from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day till February 12.
