DHAKA: A writ petition was filed with the High Court challenging the legality of Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

One behalf of one Zakir Hossain, lawyer Shishir Munir submitted the plea on Wednesday.

According to Section 57 (1) and (2), if any person deliberately publishes or transmits false, obscene and derogatory information in the website or in any other electronic form, he or she will be sentenced imprisonment from seven to 14 years and fined Tk 1 crore.
