FROM KOLKATA: With the slogan of “Connected World” through technological advancement, the 14th edition of INFOCOM has been launched in Kolkata of India.

India telecom regulatory authority chairman RS Sharma inaugurated the conference at ‘ITC Sonar’ hotel on Thursday morning.

As many as 1,200 guests and 100 representatives from public and private ICT companies and corporate offices are attending the three-day event.

In the event, the speakers will discuss on several topics, including, strategy, leadership, industry, technology, Chief Information Officer (CIO) Connect and SME. CIOs from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are joining the event.

The conference will continue till Saturday.

Prior to the inauguration, Bharati Airtel Limited president Manik Prakash and MN Dastor & Company president Atun Mukharjee delivered speeches on “connected world through technology”.

India’s former information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari and HCL Infosystems executive president Sumit Bhattacharya spoke in the plenary session.

After the inauguration, the ‘STPI Export Award-2014’ was handed over for contributing in technological development of West Bengal.

On the first day of the event, notable speakers delivered their speeches. Among them, former captain of Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly spoke on ‘Transforming Setbacks into Comebacks’.

However, India’s popular media house ABP Group has organized the program with the assistance of India’s ICT ministry’s electronics and IT division.
