He further added that a total of 12 e-gates have been set up in the departure area of the airport and other three in the arrival area.

Additional IGP of Special Branch (SB) Monirul Islam and Project Director of e-Passport Immigration Project Brigadier General Sadat Hossain were present at the inauguration of e-Gate (Automatic Border Control System) activities and the immigration process was completed through e-gate in front of them.

According to the Department of Immigration and Passports, when a person holding an e-passport goes to the e-gate, the gate will open immediately if the e-passport is kept in a certain place.

The camera will take picture of him or her after following certain rules in the gate area.
If all formalities are done properly, then passengers will be able to pass immigration in a few seconds. However, if someone makes mistake in this case, the red light will show up.
