National Board of Revenue (NBR) has summoned bank accounts details of the Mohammad Saiful Alam alias S Alam, and his family members.

The NBR's Income Tax Department has sent letters in this regard to all banks from the Dhaka Tax Zone-15.

According to letter, the Tax Zone-15 has asked 91 banks and non-bank financial institutions to provide details of the accounts of S Alam’s wife Farzana Parvin, mother Chemon Ara Begum, and brother Abdullah Hasan. Additionally, information about bank accounts held in the names of their parents, spouses, children, or siblings, as well as any business entities, has also been requested.

Moreover, information about credit cards issued in their names has also been sought. Alongside banks, Tax Zone-15 has requested account information from financial institutions, the National Savings Directorate, and the Postal Department.

S Alam Group was one of the major beneficiaries during the autocratic regime of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and there are allegations of various unethical activities including money laundering against the industrial conglomerate.
