Formalin Control Act on June

DHAKA: The Formalin Control Act-2013 will be passed in the next budget session of the parliament on June.

Law Minister Anisul Haque came up with the observation while addressing a discussion on implementation of the Formalin Control Act-2013 organized by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in the city on Wednesday.

The minister said, “Only enacting the law will be not enough, but the results will come, if consumers become aware and assist the law enforcers.”

“People who use formalin should be given capital punishment but this penalty has much criticism around the world; that is why lifetime imprisonment will be better as the maximum punishment,” he added.

Presided over by FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, former commerce ministry GM Quader, former FBCCI president Salman F Rahman, law ministry secretary Shahidul Haque and FBCCI first vice president Monowar Ali, among others, spoke at the function.
