DHAKA: BRAC Bank has not returned the money to the customers though Bangladesh Bank (BB) served two letters earlier in this connection. 

Sources said that BB has sent the 3rd letter to the BRAC Bank authorities to pay the due within June 30, in default they will be punished, according to the letter.

An official source of BB said to banglanews that if they don’t pay the money they would be fined and that money would be used to return to the customers.

Sources said, some Tk 19 lakh of 31 customers was looted from the bank through the online banking tricks.

Banglanews has been constantly reporting about the scam of the BRAC bank. Then, the central bank found the fact about the bank and ordered them to repay the looted money to customers within March 30. 

But the bank didn’t take any step as per the order. BB again sent letter to pay the due within April. Finally BB sent 3rd letter to them.

A victim who is a customer of BRAC Bank Mirpur branch ABM Musfiq Salehin said to banglanews, “BRAC bank has not been paying our money thought the BB ordered them to do so. That is sorrowful.”

Sources said BRAC Bank replied through a letter to BB. But they didn’t say that they will return customers’ money.
