DHAKA: Bangladeshi commodities are going to get vast Indian Market as bilateral agreement between the two nations is exist.

Under the agreement of The South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) Bangladesh get the tax and duty free commodity entrance in Indian market except 25 products like tobacco and drugs.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told this to banglanews.

At preset, Bangladeshi products get duty free entrance in 49 countries including India. From June 1 of 2015 it will get the same facility in Chile.

Bangladesh exports more than hundreds products in India and in 2013-14 FY it has exported 71 products, the minister said.

Indian businessmen are showing interest to import many new Bangladeshi products. As a result, new products have been enlisted in the exported Bangladeshi commodities.

Of the products jutes and jute made products, readymade garments, knit oven garments, melamine, Jamdani, agro-processed foods, molasses, engineering products, frozen fishes, cement, betel nut soap, toilet and battery are leading.

Tofeil Ahmed said India included 480 Bangladeshi products in SAFTA sensitive list and Bangladesh has been demanding duty free excess of those commodities in several times.

In 2011, the then Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited Dhaka and Bangladesh sought duty free entrance of 61 Bangladeshi products and Indian primer had implemented his promises.
