BD-Canada trade to reach $ 2b

RUPAGANJ (NARAYANGANJ): Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden on Tuesday said trade between Bangladesh and Canada will reach at two billion US dollar soon.

The Canadian diplomat came up with the observation while talking to media after visiting City Group Factory in North Rupashi area in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Cruden said the current trade volume between two countries is $ 1.85 billion. Canada has imported readymade garments from Bangladesh costing $ 1.1 billion.

The trade between two friendly countries will be amplified as the investment and products qualities have gradually been improving.

City Group chairman Fazlur Rahman assured that their products, excluding oil, will be supplied to the Bangladeshi citizens who are living abroad.

Canadian high commission’s trade commissioner Kamal Uddin, and Canadian International Grains Institute science and innovation director Elaine Sopiwnyk, among others, accompanied the diplomat.

Earlier, Cruden also visited other outlets of City Group.
