DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith said people even now fear about income tax and the government is working to lessen the fear as well as harassment in this regard.

The finance minister came up with the assertion while addressing an award giving ceremony to 402 people and organizations for their highest amount of and also for long-time tax pay on the occasion of National Income Tax Day at a city hotel on Monday.

Muhith said people should pay taxes keeping in mind that they are doing it for the country.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker clamed that the incumbent government increased revenue income from taxes in past five years and has also reduced allegations in the sector.

He further said the income tax is a good act which asses economic capability of an individual.

The country gets highest income from this sector, he added.
