BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Custom authorities in Benapole landport cancelled licenses of 66 clearing and forwading (C&F) agents on allegation of tax evasion and irregularities.

After a long investigation, licenses of 59 agents have been cancelled permanently while of the other seven are temporarily.

Besides, 15 more kept under strict surveillance, custom sources said recently.

But the authorites concerned declined to disclose the names of the agents which are under surveillance.

The sources said that a total of 740 C&F agents have been working in the port on behalf of the importers and exporters.
