DHAKA: The country’s remittance inflow registered a 14-month low in October hitting 101.07 crore US dollars, says a Bangladesh Bank source.

The previous lowest figure was about 100 crore US dollars in August, 2013.
 
The remittance inflow decreased by 17.87 per cent in October this year compared with that of a decrease of 15.34 per cent in the same month of last fiscal year.

A report of Bangladesh Bank also showed that the month October got 25 percent less remittance than September.

Some 134 crore US dollars remittance inflow was sent by the expatriates in September.

The inward remittance hit a new monthly record at 149 crore US dollars in July, at the beginning of 2014-15 fiscal year.

Last few fiscal years saw an intensification growth of remittance. Only the inflow of remittance decreased slightly in 2013-2014 fiscal year.

The amount was lower by 1.61 percent than the remittance earnings in the previous fiscal year, according to the central bank statistics.
