DHAKA: Bangladesh and Nepal governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to remove the trade and technical barriers between the two neighboring countries.

The signing ceremony was held at the secretariat in city on Wednesday (May 11) during the meeting among Bangladesh commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun, visiting Nepali commerce secretary Naindra Prasad Upadhyay and his delegation.

The secretaries signed a MoU on behalf of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Nepal Bureau of Standards & Metrology (NBSM) to remove the technical barriers.

To boost the regional trade and transit, the both parties decided to ease the visa process to Nepal for Bangladeshi traders and issue ‘On Arrival Visa’ for Nepali citizens at Bangladesh landports.

They also nodded to sign another MoU about sanitary and phytosanitary.
