DSE up, CSE down at opening

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- are witnessing mixed trends in share price indices on Tuesday (May 31), the third trading day of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gain over 1.88 points or 0.04 percent to stand at 4424.89 points at 11:47am.

Trade deals stood at 29,943 with transaction at over Tk 1,133.64 million. Of the issues traded, 108 advanced, 113 declined and 60 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 128.83 million having changed hands till then.

Other toppers of the market were Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited, Summit Alliance Port Limited, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Linde Bangladesh Limited, Titas Gas Transmission & Dist. Co. Ltd., Olympic Industries, The Ibn Sina, MJL Bangladesh Limited and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), however, witnessing deflation in the opening hours as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, shed over 0.91 points to stand at 8278.64 points at 11:52am.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 45 gained, 83 declined and 34 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 80.54 million.
