Bourses witness gain Wednesday

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain in share price indices on Wednesday (June 8), the fourth trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), acquired over 7.91 points or 0.17 percent to stand at 4420.42 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 95,582 with transaction at over Tk 3233.12 million. Of the issues traded, 170 advanced, 86 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

The ACME Laboratories Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 306.62 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Far Chemical Industries Limited, Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, Shahjibazar Power Co. Ltd, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, MJL Bangladesh Limited, BRAC Bank Ltd., Olympic Industries, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd. and Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also followed the trend breaking out the vicious circle of loss after three consecutive days as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, gained over 24.27 points to stand at 8272.88 points.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 122 gained, 67 declined and 37 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 229.59 million.
