Bourses continue to rise

DHAKA: The benchmark indices of the country’s two bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed gains on Wednesday (June 29), the fourth trading session of week.

The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX, rose over 18.89 points and 0.42 percent to stand at 4470.26 at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 76,405 with transaction at Tk 5862.48 million on the day.

Of the issues traded, 158 advanced, 104 declined and 56 remained unchanged.

Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd. topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 193.71 million having changed hands.

Other toppers of the market were Far Chemical Industries Limited, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Islami Bank, Shahjibazar Power Co. Ltd., the ACME Laboratories Limited, City Bank, Olympic Accessories Limited, Social Islami Bank Limited and Bangladesh Building Systems Ltd.

Chittagong stocks also followed the trend, as CSCX, the prime index, increased to 8331.52 by gaining over 24.89 points.

Out of the issues traded, 113 gained, 92 declined and 38 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 241.21 million.
