SYLHET: A district and metropolitan businessmen’s organization has called half day hartal in Sylhet for Wednesday (August 31) demanding arrest of the killers of trader Mamun.

The decision of the hartal, to be observed from 6.00am to 2.00pm, was taken in an emergency meeting of Sylhet Zila Byabsayee Oikya o Kalyan Parishad on Sunday night (August 28).

Parishad’s president Sheikh Mokon Mia told Banglanews that they sent press releases to media houses in this regard.

Meanwhile, a press release, signed by Byabsayee Swartho Sangrakkhan Parishad’s secretary general Ripon Das, said that a protest procession will commence from town’s court point and a rally will be held at Shahid Minar around 5.00pm on Wednesday.

Earlier on August 16, businessman Karim Box Manun was allegedly stabbed to death by ruling Awami League’s student wing Chattra League’s postponed committee vice-president Sulaiman Ahmed Chowdhury.

The case has been later handed over to Detective Branch (DB) of police.
