Benapole land port resumes operation

BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Export import activities between Benapole land port in Jessore and India’s Petrapole resumed Sunday morning (September 18) after six days of Eid-al-Azha vacation.

Benapole check-post customs cargo department duty officer Amit Baran Das told Banglanews that the employees are passing busy time after a long vacation.

“At least 50 trucks have entered Bangladesh from India till 10:00am. Export business is also rolling,” he said.

Port director (Traffic) Nitai Chandra Sen said that the port officially opened on September 15. But, the unloading was closed till Sunday.

He also said that the authorities concerned have asked the port employees to unload the goods swiftly.

Over 80 percent goods from India are imported through this port. Around 300-350 trucks come to this port from India and 200-250 go to India daily.

The government collects around TK 3,000-crore duty from this port alone every year.
