DHAKA: For the first time, a solo trade expo of Bangladesh was held in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, from September 28 to 29.
The fair, Dutch-Bangla Expo-2016, was held in the famous European Trade Fair Venue “RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre in the Netherlands”.
The Dutch Bangla Expo 2016 objectives include promoting Bangladeshi products and services to the Netherlands as well as to the European Market; attracting Dutch investment for government prioritized Business sectors in Bangladesh as identified during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Netherlands and to enable Dutch companies to promote their products & services to the emerging Bangladesh market.
The EXPO was jointly organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh in the Netherlands and Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DBCCI).
Bangladesh finance minister AMA Muhith inaugurated the Dutch Bangla Expo 2016 where around 40 organizations took part.
Representatives of Dutch government and envoys from different countries, including Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and UAE to Netherlands and business leaders of two countries were present in the event.
The fair was patronized by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and supported by Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka. Government and other important organizations like BOI, BEZA, PPPA, etc. also supported and participated.
Bangladeshi stalls showcased products of leather, jute, ready-made garments, and IT outsourcing, shipbuilding and real estate sectors.
During his speech, Muhith mentioned about the facilities the government is providing to the foreign investors in various sectors and called the Dutch businessmen to invest.
An Investment Seminar and Business Networking (B2B) meeting was held during the trade fair where the Dutch businessmen were made aware of trade and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
