DHAKA: Another deputy managing director (DMD), Monaem Khan, of state-owned Basic Bank Limited was removed over loan scam of Tk 5,000-crore.
The decision of the bank was disclosed through an office order, issued on Monday (October 31), in this regard.
Sources said the bank authorities took the decision as the matter jeopardized the interests of the depositors.
Earlier, the authority suspended Monaem Khan temporarily in April of 2014.
The inspection by Bangladesh Bank (BB) authorities also unveiled the scam of Tk 5,000 crore. Later, the central bank removed Basic Bank’s the then managing director (MD) Kazi Fakhrul Islam in May of 2015.
Besides, the directorial board was also abolished and DMDs Fazlus Sobhan, M Ruhul Alam and M Selim and general manager (GM) M Mahbubul Alam were also removed on December 9 of 2015 in this connection.
Abdul Hye Bacchu, the then chairman of Basic Bank, the main accused of the incident resigned before the BB inspection.
