DHAKA: Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said that country’s poverty level has been reduced from 70 percent to 22 percent in past 40-year.
Moreover, Bangladesh is enjoying an upstream development trend.
The World Bank president Jim Yong Kim hailed Bangladesh for the development including poverty reduction, he added.
The minister made the assertion at Impact Investment Summit at a city hotel on Thursday (November 10).
Bangladesh Brand Forum and Build Bangladesh jointly organized the daylong event.
Muhith said that the movement of Impact Investment has been playing an important role in society and environment.
“More investment in social sector is needed in achieving Millennium Development Goals (MGD),” he remarked.
