Bourses start 2017 with inflation

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed gain in share price indices on Sunday (January 1), on the first trading day of new year 2017.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 47.84 points or 0.95 percent to stand at 5083.89 points at the end of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 184,567 with transaction over Tk 9936.98 million. Of the issues traded, 243 advanced, 60 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

The IFAD Autos Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 305.63 million having changed hands on the day.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, gain over 88.06 points to stand at 9457.97 points on the day.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 206 gained, 45 declined and 9 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 621.14 million.
