Markets see up in opening hours

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- are witnessing gain in share price indices in the opening hours on Wednesday (January 18), the fourth trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 17.21 points or 0.30 percent to stand at 5592.65 points at 12:47 pm.

Trade deals stood at 158,802 with a transaction over Tk 11766.12 million. Of the issues traded, 164 advanced, 133 declined and 29 remained unchanged.

Baraka Power Company topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 582.98 million having changed hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the suit, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 2.45 points to stand at 10381.78 points till 12:45 pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 109 gained, 125 declined and 22 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 691.63 million till filing the report.
