DHAKA: The High Court has stayed for two months the election process of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the top platform of the businessmen.
The HC bench of Justice Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das passed the order on Wednesday (March 22) following a petition filed by a businessman.
Mymensingh’s chamber president Aminul Haque Shamim filed the petition.
Barrister Boddroddozza Badal moved for the petitioner in the court. He told the Banglanews that his client filed the petition, as his name was not included in the voter list.
As per the FBCCI rule, a representative from Mymensingh division will remain in the director post, but it not done in the voter list.
The FBCCI election was scheduled to be held on May 14.
