DHAKA: The government is in the move for initiating a law to set up a one-stop service center where domestic and foreign investors will get 16 services at a time.
The draft copy of One-Stop Service Act-2017 was approved in a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the secretariat on Monday (May 8).
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters that the new law is designed to encourage domestic and foreign investor by providing them necessary information that they need.
He also said that Bangladesh is lagging in ‘Globally Doing Business’ category. Our current position is 176 out of 188. the government is planning the new policy in way to improve our global position below 100. That requires creating friendly environment for investment.
“This one-stop service is being created with that goal. Four organizations (Bangladesh Development Authority (BDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Authority) will be in charge of operating the service.”
The one stop service will include the following services-- trade licenses, land registration, name registration, environmental clearance, construction permits, electric, gas and water utilities, telephone and internet connections, explosive licensing and boiler certification and 27 other categories will be covered by these services.
