Tk 913cr WB loan for small enterprises

DHAKA: The World Bank approved Tk 913 crore loan for sustainable development through the use of technology and environmentally-friendly production in small enterprises sector.

The organization has given USD 11 crore (Tk 913 crore) for Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP), which will be implemented by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The contract between Bangladesh government and World Bank was signed at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Wednesday (May 16).

Kazi Shafiqul Azam, secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs of Bangladesh while World Bank's Country Director to Dhaka office Chimaoya Fan signed on the contract.

The total expenditure of the project is Tk 1079 crore. The rest of the money is to come from PKSF.

The main objective of the project is to make small enterprises, financed by PKSF, sustainable environmentally.

The project will be implemented from June 2018 to June 2023.
