DHAKA: The High Court has summoned all the investigations officers of the 56 cases filed over BASIC Bank loan scam, to explain why they failed to complete the investigation within the given time.

The investigation officers have been asked to appear before the court May 30, along with the documents of the cases.

An HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order Wednesday (May 23).

Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

“As per the law, investigations into the cases were supposed to complete within 180 days. But, almost two and a half years have passed. The investigation hasn’t been complete yet. They have been summoned to explain the reasons of it,” he said.

However, ACC registered a total of 56 cases on three consecutive days, 21, 22 and 23 of September in 2015, in BASIC Bank scam.

A total of 156 persons were accused in the cases filed in Motijheel, Paltan and Gulshan Police stations.
