DHAKA: A new railway link will be constructed from Rooppur nuclear power plant to Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna for transporting Heavy machineries and other accessories.
Dual gauge railways will be constructed from the Ishwardi Bypass Take-off point to the Rooppur nuclear power plant.
Railways Minister Mujibul Haque made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at a program on the rail link project signing at railway office on Tuesday (July 10).
The 297 crore project will jointly be implemented by GPT, SEL, CCL in just 18 months.
Mojibur Rahman, general manager (West) of Bangladesh Railway signed the accord. Suvash Chandra Hawlader, managing director of Standard Engineers Ltd, signed on behalf of the joint venture company (Standard Engineers Ltd, Castle Construction Ltd of Bangladesh, and GTP Infra Project Ltd of India).
Following competition of construction work, it would be possible to transport all types of accessories from the Chattogram and Khulna ports to the power station.
Railways Secretary Mofazzel Hossain, Suvash Chandra Hawlader among others spoke at the function.
