DHAKA: Foreign Affairs Minister Shahriar Alam on Sunday (Sept 23) said the government has a plan to develop a special economic zone for the investors from Qatar here.
The foreign ministry issued a press release regarding this.
“Qatari businessmen have sufficient reputation for investment in Bangladesh. Bangladesh government has taken an initiative to construct 100 special economic zones. Meanwhile, 8 of them have launched operations,” the minister told a seminar held in Qatar capital city Doha recently.
Bangladesh Forum in Qatar and Qatar Financial Center organized the seminar.
Bangladesh government may also develop more than one economic zone for the Qatari investors, he added.
The minister urged them to invest more in Bangladesh.
Qatar investment authority chief Abdul Aziz bin Nasser al-Thani and Bangladesh ambassador to Qatar Ashud Ahmed, among others, attended the seminar.
