DHAKA: The Asian Development Bank projected 7.5 percent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for the country in the fiscal year 2018-19.
The ADB has released a report entitled ‘Asian Development Outlook-2018’ at its Dhaka office located in Agargaon area on Wednesday (September 26).
ADB’s country director for Bangladesh Manmohan Prokash released the report.
Growth is shown less than the budget targets in the report. However, the GDP growth rate was estimated 7.8 percent in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018-19.
Imports will decrease if growth is stable in export sector. Service and industry will make a big contribution to maintain continuity of growth. There is no good news in the world trade, yet the progress in export and remittance sectors will remain stable. Private investment will also play a significant role in the growth of GDP, report said.
ADB’s senior economist Sun Chang Hong was present among others at the program.
