DHAKA: Visiting Minister-in-Charge of Economic Revitalization of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi said his country is interested to give more support in key development areas of Bangladesh.
Toshimitsu Motegi expressed his willingness, during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office, to invest specially in IT sector.
PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting on Tuesday (January 15).
Toshimitsu Motegi congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assuming the office as prime minister for third consecutive term through a participatory election.
Japanese minister expressed his firm belief that relations between Bangladesh and Japan would be more strengthened during this current regime.
Welcoming Toshimitsu Motegi on behalf of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said Japan is a great development partner of Bangladesh since independence, giving support to various mega projects.
The prime minister proposed Japan to provide support to the training programs in the IT sectors as well as skills to acquire deep sea wealth.
Sheikh Hasina reiterated that her government adopted ‘zero tolerance’ stance against terrorism and militancy.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, PM’s advisor on international affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi and PM’s Principal Secretary Md. Najibur Rahman were present.
