DHAKA: Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished the week's last session on a positive tune Thursday (Jan 24) amid growing confidence of the investors.
At the end of the session, DSEX, the prime index of DSE, finished at 5950.01, gaining 24.76 points or 0.41 per cent over the previous session.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 10.37 billion, which was lower than the previous day’s turnover of Tk 10.45 billion.
A total number of 209,846 trades were executed in the day’s trading session with trading volume of 335,663,530 million shares and mutual fund units.
The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of issues traded, 186 closed higher, 124 ended lower and 36 issues remained unchanged.
UPGDCL topped the day’s turnover chart with shares worth Tk 443.73 million changing hands, closely followed by Premier Bank, United Finance, IFIC, Dhaka Bank, JMI Syringes and City Bank.
Continental Insurance was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.96 per cent while Northern Jute manufacturing was the day’s worst loser, shedding 6.21 per cent
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI – advancing 53 points to settle at 18265.82.
The gainers beat the losers as 144 issues ended higher, 102 lower and 27 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse traded 17.46 million shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 391.04 million in turnover.
