DHAKA: China Harbour and Engineering Co Ltd, a Chinese construction company, will develop the infrastructure of the SBG Economic Zone Limited located at Mirsharai economic zone-1 in Chattogram.

Regarding the matter, China Harbour Engineering Company has signed an agreement with SBG Economic Zone Limited at the office of Bashundhara Group chairman in Bashundhara Residential area on Wednesday (Jan 30).

Mahboob Rahman Ruhel, managing director (MD) of SBG Economic Zone Limited and Fu Xiuquan, managing director of China Harbour and Engineering Co Ltd singed the agreement on behalf of the respective side.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, R & R Holdings Limited chairman Rick Haque Sikder, China Harbour and Engineering Co Ltd general manager (marketing) Luo Tau and its Business Manager Liu yuhang, were, among others, present.

SBG Economic Zone Limited MD Mahbub Rahman Ruhel said Mirsharai economic zone in Chittagong is the largest one among the 100 economic zones which the government has planned to implement for the development of the country. 

“The SBG Economic Zone has been implementing at 550 acres of land. Many industrial companies will be leased for long term (50 years) after developing its infrastructure”, he added.

The SBG MD also said “For that we need to go for earth filling, construction of road network, ETP installation and provide other facilities. A lot of work has already been done there. We signed an agreement with China Harbour Engineering Limited to work for earth filling. This work will start very soon.”

“We hope that the entire work of infrastructure development will be completed within next five to 10 months. If the work is completed, SBG will be a highly developed Economic Zone. The facilities which will have at SBG zone are much better than other economic zones”
