DHAKA: Key share price index in the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- closed in a negative note on Tuesday (Feb 5), after a day’s gaining streak.
Following the previous session’s positive note, the DSE benchmark index, DSEX advanced more than 6.0 points at 10:45am.
But at the close of day’s trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse went down by 27.82 points or 0.47 percent to reach 5800.24.
Of the issues traded, 104 gained, 214 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 7,066.63 million changed hands at the DSE on the third trading session of the week.
United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited topped the turnover leaders with 1.38 million shares worth Tk 553.92 million traded.
Green Delta Insurance Ltd was also the biggest gainer of the day, posting 6.98 percent rise in its share prices, while Prime Insurance Company Ltd was the worst loser, dropping by 8.21 percent.
The CSE overall share index, CASPI also lost 103 percent to reach 17,735 points at the close today.
Of the 280 issues traded, 64 advanced, 187 suffered loss and 29 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 251.48 million.
