DHAKA: Key share price index in the country’s twin bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - began the week in positive though turnover was 2.5 months lower.
DSE turnover has reached Tk 4621.43 million changed hands on Sunday (Mar 10) while Thursday’s turnover was Tk 4915.71 million.
DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, gained 21.60 points, or 0.37 per cent, to reach 5710 at the close of day’s trading.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 8.00 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 1,311.
The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 11 points or 0.55 per cent to close at 2,001 points.
Of the issues traded, 187 gained, 112 declined and 48 remained unchanged.
United Power Generation & Distribution Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 283.69 million followed by Monno Ceramic, Singer Bangladesh and Dutch-Bangla Bank.
The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were TAKAFULINS, NORTHRNINS, MONNOCERA, BATBC and SINGERBD.
The CSE key index, CSCX, also went up by 3.76 points to reach 1,273 at the close Sunday.
Of the 241 issues traded, 135 advanced, 67 suffered loss and 37 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 234.86 million.
