DHAKA: Key share price indices at both bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed negative trend on Wednesday (Mar 13), the fourth trading day of the week.
However, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 29.22 points to reach at 5653 points at the end of day’s trading, starting from 56.82.44 points in the morning.
However, other indices also edged lower. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 11.72 points or 0.89 per cent to close at 1292.19.
The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 8.26 points or 0.41 per cent to close at 2005.49 points.
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the main bourse of the country, has reached at Tk 7081.27 million today, marking a significant decrease from previous session’s Tk 6,219.91 million.
Of the issues traded on the DSE, 60 advanced, 161 declined and 24 remained unchanged.
Wednesday’s top five gainers at the DSE were -- DUTCHBANGL, KAY&QUE, UTTARABANK, LIBRAINFU and VAMLBDMF1.
Nevertheless, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 623.97 million having changed hands.
On the other hand, the port city bourse, CSE, also saw a negative trend with its Overall Share Index, CSCX declined 57.94 percent or 0.33 percent to close at 17,363 points.
A total of 6.13 million shares and mutual fund units has been traded, generating turnover of Tk 201.01 million.
Of the 252 issues traded on the DSE, 55 advanced, 172 declined and 25 remained unchanged on the port city bourse.
