DHAKA: Country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – started this week in red on Monday (March 18), as trading closed on Sunday for National Children’s Day.
DSE turnover has reached Tk 4,766.79 million changed hands while previous session (Thursday)’s turnover was Tk 5,850.05 million.
DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, declined 50.91 points, or 0.90 percent, to reach 5,604.90 at the close of day’s trading.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 9.81 points or 0.75 per cent to close at 1,283.
The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 5.76 points or 0.28 per cent to close at 2,017.90 points.
Of the issues traded, 42 gained, 279 declined and 24 remained unchanged.
BRAC Bank Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 382 million followed by British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Ltd, United Power Generation & Distribution Company and Square Pharmaceuticals Co ltd.
The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were MARICO, RECKITTBEN, EASTRNLUB, GHCL and BATBC.
The CSE overall share index, CSAPI, also went down by 12.43 points or 0.98 to reach 1254.36 at the close today.
Of the 231 issues traded, 26 advanced, 191 suffered loss and 14 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 174.95 million on Monday.
