DHAKA: The share price indices at the country's both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – ended the week in red as downturn continued for the second consecutive session on Thursday (March 21).
DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, shed over 30.40 points or 0.54 percent to reach 5,570 at the close of the day’s trading.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 5.27 points or 0.40 percent to close at 1,284.
The DS30 comprising blue chips went down by 12.58 points or 0.62 percent to close at 1,993 points.
Of the issues traded, 135 gained, 154 declined and 56 remained unchanged.
The DSE turnover reached Tk 3,909.90 million changed hands.
Singer Bangladesh Limited topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 237.12 million followed by Alif Industries, British American Tobacco Bangladesh Limited, BRAC Bank and Monno Ceramic Industries.
The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were AGRANINS, JMISMDL, SONALIANSH, AMBEEPHA and BDAUTOCA while top five losers at the main bourse were BIFC, STANDARINS, UNITEDINS, SIMTEX and PF1STMF.
The CSE overall share index, CASPI, also went down by 57.93 points 0.33 percent to reach 17,109 at the close today.
Of the 236 issues traded, 75 advanced, 137 suffered loss and 24 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 95.17 million on Thursday.
