DHAKA: Stocks ended lower on the bourses Tuesday (April 9), the third trading session of the week, with turnover decreased from the previous session.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 53.48 points or 0.99 per cent to close at 5,318.75.
The two other indices also edged lower. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 7.61 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 1,232.99.
The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 23.99 points or 1.24 per cent to close at 1,900.53 points.
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the main bourse of the country, has reached at Tk 3,659.19 million today, marking a significant decrease from previous session’s Tk 4,180.04 million on Monday.
Of the issues traded on the DSE, 57 advanced, 231 declined and 59 remained unchanged.
Esquire Knit Composite Ltd was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 328.03 million changing hands.
Agrani Insurance Ltd was also the day's top gainer, posting a rise of 6.21 per cent while R N Spinning Mills Ltd was the day's worst loser, posting a decline of 9.85 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with CASPI, the Overall Share Index, declined 165.09 percent or 1.00 percent to close at 16,313.89 points.
Of the 235 issues traded on the DSE, 52 advanced, 162 declined and 21 remained unchanged on the port city bourse.
A sum of 56.17 million shares and mutual fund units has been traded, generating turnover of Tk 189.30 million.
