DHAKA: Both the bourses -Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed negative trends in the middle of trading on Tuesday (April 23), the second session of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 40.29 points or 0.75 percent to stand at 5,283 at 12:31 pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) declined 10.00 points or 0.81 percent to stand at 1221 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also lost 12.91 points or 0.68 percent to stand at 1880 points.
Trade deals stood at 45,055 with transaction at over Tk 1,496.09 million on the DSE.
Of the issues traded till then, 57 advanced, 236 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged.
Fortune Shoes Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 244.92 million changing hands till then followed by Monno Ceramic and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The port city bourse also saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX- losing 84.61 points or 0.52 percent to stand at 16,185 points, also at 12:34pm.
Of the 164 issues traded till then, 25 gained, 124 declined and 15 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 55.28 million.
