DHAKA: Expressing dissatisfaction over environment of trade-investment in Bangladesh, European Union Ambassador Rengee Tering said there are still many obstacles here for trade and commerce.
EU ambassador then cited a few factors, for example, complexity of the legal reform process, lack and uncertainty of continuity of policy and laxity of monitoring organization.
The ambassador, in her inaugural speech on 'EU-Bangladesh 5th Business Climate Dialogue,' pointed out these obstacles in the conference room of the commerce ministry at the Secretariat on Sunday (April 28).
Rengee Tering said earlier four dialogues were staged, but they did not become that much fruitful, because of the obstacles of trade and commerce.
As Bangladesh has graduated into a developing country, she, therefore, urged to ensure a standard investment atmosphere by 2021.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, “Now we get GSP facilities in EU market, but we won’t get it if turned into a developing country. Therefore, we want GSP plus facility.”
