DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank has instructed all scheduled banks to sale national savings certificates online from May 2.
The directive has been given in an order signed by Md Khurshid Alam, Debt Management Department of the central bank, on Sunday (April 28).
The directive has been sent to the Managing Directors and Chief Executives of all Scheduled Banks in the country.
According to the order, savings certificates will have to sale online in all the divisional cities of the country from May 2. Beyond the 'National Savings Scheme Online Management System', no savings certificate can be traded.
The government has decided to sale online savings certificates to stop investing black money.
In continuation of this, Bangladesh Bank, National Savings Directorate, Sonali Bank, Bangladesh Postal Department will have to sale the savings certificate online from May 2.
